PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED 
Water Safety Instructor Course
Participants will learn how to teach the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program as well as the parent child lessons. 

Class Fee: $350.00 (covers certification)

Fee must be turned in one week prior to class start date.

Prerequisite: You must be at least 16 years of age to participate in this course. You should also be able to perform 25 meters of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and butterfly.

Lifeguarding Preparation
This program is for those who are not yet ready for lifeguard training. Lifeguard Preparation instructs participants in the stroke mechanics, treading water and retrieval of a 10lb object required to pass the lifeguard training screening. Participants are also introduced to the skills people struggle with in lifeguard training.
This course will not run with less than 4 people.Offered the first and third Friday of each month. 
Ages 14 and over
Tuesdays 7:00pm

Fee: $12 per class

Fee must be turned in one week prior to class start date.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding
GLEC offers Lifeguarding classes year round. This American Red Cross program teaches participants the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.
 
Who can take the course?
Individuals 15 years or older
Individuals who pass the pre-screening:
  • 300yd swim
  • 2 minutes treading water with no hands
  • Retrieve a 10 lb object from the deep end and swim a distance with the object
 
Class Dates
(Participants must attend all of the classes to receive certification)

Recertification Course

Fee: $175 

Fee includes: American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, First Aid,
and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. 
There are no scholarships or discounts offered for lifeguarding classes.
Participants must come to all scheduled days in order to get the certification.
There must be at least 3 participants for the course to run.
